The European Committee for Standardization, CEN, works out the test standards based on specifications given in a mandate from the European Commission.
An expert group set up by the European Commission, the Fire Regulators Group, FRG, worked out the basis for the European system of classification and the request for test methods.
The representation in FRG is one regulator and one technical expert per country. In addition, liaison is maintained with industry and CEN.
